Hi, gyatso. Welcome back.
How are things in Germany with the Corvid-19 situation? It's not too bad in my area of Los Angeles, but we have only been out of the house for quick trips to buy food for 8 or 9 weeks now.
FACTS has been in decline for some years now, but a few people still post, and others drop in occasionally without posting. To see who has been online here recently, click "Members" on the menu strip at the top of the page, then click "Last Online" at the top of the member list.

Nice to hear from you, Mikkel.
The board indicates that you posted on 1st November 2014. Too long.

These guys would appear to be wide open to a copyright lawsuit from whoever currently owns "My Sharona" (1979) by The Knack.

Debutante - -
To my understanding, passages from copyrighted material may be quoted for purposes of comment and discussion without permission. Entire works may not. In this case, you posted the whole article and said nothing.
Any prior postings of complete articles without comment should have been addressed at the time. My failing if I missed them.
No, this is not because it's a conservative article. Copyright is the only issue.

People who are stupid enough to donate to an online panhandler deserve the nothing they get in return.

Someone should intentionally violate this policy, get punished, then sue the school for violating his constitutional rights.

Interesting sound. And fancy footwork. Who could ask for anything more?

Maybe the Church of Bob should do an installation featuring astrological themes.

I don't have the Monopoly game from my childhood. Very little in the way of toys or games survived my three siblings and hoards of cousins. But I do have two sets of chess pieces from back then, wood being a little tougher than paper. Miss Molly, on the other hand, still has almost everything she ever touched.

Well, the news is old, but only by a few years, not by the decades that will be needed to let overgrown areas burn and subsequently manage the regrowth so they don't get overgrown again.

Here in wildfire country, this is old news, at least to those of us who pay attention. And so are "then and now" photos comparing the open forests of a hundred years ago with the current dense forests in the same places.

Sorry about that, Joan. I did look into your "site not secure" concerns, but didn't find anything, and then got distracted and never got back to it. My apologies.

What? You want to live forever?
Good news for coming generations - "live long and prosper" and so on. But looking ahead in time, do you think any problems might arise if people lived to an average age of 200? - massive population increase as babies continue to arrive but older people aren't dying - water, food, housing, and employment shortages due to increased demand outpacing available resources - additional greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere - large increases in long-term investment messing up the stock market

Well, I'm triggered, disenfranchised, and marginalized by this. Millennials get all the attention. What about us older folks? Where is Monopoly for Seniors? Scrabble for Boomers? Shoots and Escalators? #GamesForGeezers

I could use a couple injections of such a drug - left hand, lower back.
However, at present, the pain tells me when I'm doing something I shouldn't be doing. If I had an injection, and lacked that painful reminder, would I begin to further damage the affected joints? Might I actually destroy those joints, and become crippled, because my warning systems have been compromise?

As the article indicates, we already have plenty of gun control laws in California. But even if they confiscated every gun in the state, people who wanted to kill others would find a way. Explosives are easy to make. (How long would it take you, Bob, a trained chemist, to make a bomb? Couple hours?) Fires are easy to set. Driving through a crowd is easy. And so on.

So, a barely detected object that has left the solar system, has never been examined, and will never be seen again. Talk about jumping to conclusions and an unfalsifiable hypothesis ! ! ! It 'may have been" an alien probe. Or it may have been a rock. Or a giant toothpick.

Made up statistics probably go back before the word statistics was invented.
I used to think people needed better critical thinking skills. Then I thought they needed to learn at least some critical thinking skills. Now I think they need to learn the most basic thinking skills.

A personal IOU is problematic. After all, "worth its weight" is a bit vague. Worth its weight in what? What shall it be written on? Where shall it be weighed? An IOU written on paper and weighed on Earth, for example, would be only a few grams, so unless it's worth its weight in an extraordinarily valuable material, like Unobtainium, its value would be quite small. And then there's the question of collateral. I mean, we're friends and all, but this is business.
How about this? If you me on the Board of Directors, I can steal enough to live the life to which I'd like to become accustomed, just like God intended.

No, sorry Bob. I wracked up multiple Plenary Indulgences in my catholic days, so I need no Dispensations. In addition to cash, I would consider precious metals and perhaps industrial trade secrets if you have something really juicy. And no cryptocurrencies, please, because the Illuminati might be watching.

OK Bob. Your friendly Admin has to remind you that FACTS is a non-commercial site. You will need to move your fund raising activities elsewhere. Unless I get a percentage, to be negotiated later, and paid "under the table" at a location yet to be determined.

" . . . dietary supplements for sale at gas stations . . . "
I once told a vendor at a swap meet that "the day I buy pharmaceuticals from some guy in a parking lot, you'll know I've lost my mind." He seemed to find that a little offensive, and he wasn't pleased when I asked what medical studies supported his claims.
