It seems a Democrat tried to get the Republican nomination for mayor by bribing several republicans.
How come the only thing Democrats and Republicans can agree on is committing a crime?

"Bribe" has such ugly connotations. Call it a commission or a gift. It might not even be illegal if you declare it on your income tax.
