Actually, some restaurants are refusing to serve people in maga hats.
Of course they are perfectly within their rights to do so.

Yep. Free speech only covers what the government can do when you express opinions. Social and economic consequences are a completely different story. I like to use the example of bars. Here's the scene - a bar around midnight, after the patrons are likely to have seriously lowered inhibitions. A guy wearing a full Klan outfit goes into a black bar and starts telling people how blacks are inferior to whites. Or a black man goes into a country-western bar and started telling people how ignorant rednecks are. Hilarity ensues. 8->
Do these people have a right to their opinions? You bet. Could there be negative consequences to those opinions. Yes, indeed.
Sometimes businesses might ban political clothing because the owners disagree with the message. And sometimes they might ban such because they fear there could be trouble among the customers. Most people don't realize that these days job hunters are having their social media accounts screened by potential employers. Expressing extreme beliefs, left or right, might be enough to be banned from certain types of employment. Perfectly legal, so long as it's not a government job.
Me, I prefer to hide in the bushes and blend in. I never put political stickers on my car because I don't want my tires slashed. I don't put political signs up in the front yard because I don't want any vandalism. Plenty of trouble in the world without seeking out more.

Great advise Fred. And it always has been.
