I have not been able to find any more information about this - just news reports repeating the same sketchy information in slightly different language. It's probably too soon to hope for any professional reactions. An abstract of Benner's paper, posted prior to the conference, is available here: goldschmidt.info/2013/abstracts/finalPDFs/686.pdfThe paper itself is not available. Again, too soon, and you typically have to be a member of a society and/or pay a fee to get transcripts. I think we need to be very skeptical of life coming from Mars until far more direct evidence is found. For now, I'm staying with "don't know" when asked how and where life originated |
