Calling the trend toward tablets and cloud based data storage the "death of the pc" is quite an overstatement. PCs will undoubtedly be less prevalent, particularly in the home market, but they are not going to disappear.
For people who mostly do web surfing and email and so on, an iPad (or similar) may suffice. But anyone who really works on a computer will feel very constricted if limited to such a small device. A tablet might be "just the thing" out in the field or for travel, but when you get back to the office you'll want your desktop, and your big monitor, and so on.
