An article about Sylvia Brown's last book, "Past Lives of the Rich and Famous" (released December 2012) - scroll down to the not-very-flattering portrait. www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/13-05-22/In the comments following the article I called her a con-artist. My real view is far worse and not suited for expression in polite company.

The following is what actually ticks me off the most. Because being true, where's the incentive to intervene in bad things happening?
And also, what about free will? And a moral code? But then atheists/skeptics don't believe in either. Now that's irony for you. (I wish the "preview" button worked.)

Sorry, Lily, but that's a little unclear.
Are you "ticked" at Brown or at Smythe? Where you said "because being true," did you mean, if it is true that we plan every detail of our lives before being born, then there's no incentive to intervene?
This skeptical atheist does believe in free will and a moral code. I see the existence of free will as obvious and self-evident (which does not eliminate the possibility that I may be mistaken) and because I find the arguments for determinism lacking). I believe in a moral code (many of them actually) because every culture needs and has rules for how members interact.

No, ticked at Browne. The quote is what Smythe says that Browne says.
And I was unclear. I should have written, "because if true".
Well, I would say that you're a minority among skeptics in believing in "free will". But you're similar is believing that morality is relative to a culture. Bob is the exception as far as objective moral code.
