Should we require registry to all posters? Not require registry and be on the pro-board directory? Require registry, but advertise our forum on other sites? Being private gives us control over trolls, but limits new traffic. Please tell us how you feel.
Thanks, The Help

If I were the god of FACTS, I would require registration to post, but I would allow non-registered "guests" to read all they want. I am on other boards like that, and one which is mostly like that but also has member-only areas.
I do not fear trolls.

I agree with Ray. I write on another board and in order to post, one needs to register. Unregistered guests are allowed to read all posts, but cannot reply.

I don't know...some people worry about it. I know Lily felt uncomfortable with the thought people read about us but never posted. That's why she left. So I imagine this is a consideration for some people.
I know I put in a false birthdate when I signed up. So, I do have some privacy concerns.
Whatever the majority wants is fine with me.

people read about us but never posted. People can and do register, but then lurk without ever posting.

If possible, the board should be able to be read without registration OR logging in.

People do register, then lurk. People also don't register but lurk. My other board currently has over 28,000 members , but about only 100 or so are actively posting. Personally, I feel if you want to be a part of any message board community, you should have to register. Registering allows mods and community members to keep track of who's writing...you won't have 10 people with the same name, you get to better know individual members.

Thanks Factoids,
I've switched the options so anyone can read our forum, but if they want to post they will need to register. Let's see how that works. In the meantime I'll try to see how I can promote our forum as well.
Cheers, The Help
