Am I the resident debunker here? Because if so it's kind of ironic... Anyway, using my super powers of deduction I can tell you that this is definitely not a photo of the Loch Ness monster. Or "Nessy", as he's known to his friends. Nor is it a photo of a whale. In fact it isn't a sea creature of any kind, extinct or otherwise (really, Raybar - an extinct creature!?) If you look closely you will notice - as I did - that the water is only displaced on each side, which should tell you that this is the wake of a surface vessel travelling at a fair rate of knots. You can actually see the two straight lines in the middle section, clear evidence of a man-made craft. So what this is is a photo of the wake of a seaplane that has just taken off. The wake is still there, but the plane has already taken off and left the picture. Seaplanes land and take off from Loch Ness all the time. Here's one doing just that. Next! |

Extinct as in ---
Nessie is often represented as a large long-necked marine reptile, like a plesiosaur, which, being extinct, is unlikely to be swimming in Loch Ness or anywhere else.
The two "wings" do resemble a wake, but how would a plane taking off produce the "head?" It looks more like the bow wave from something wide and blunt like a barge.
