I just started watching. I love it! I love astronomy. I just purchased (it was on sale) a 96-episode (half-hour episodes) program called "Understanding the Universe: An Introduction to Astronomy" through The Great Courses, by Professor Alex Filippenko. He's great. I watched him on another DVD. Astronomy and the universe could be my religion, if I didn't already have one. I'm going to finish watching this video later today when I will have the time to do so. I've always had a weird feeling about the moon.

Nice presentation, but I always wonder about films like this ---- why they go on location for demonstrations they could easily do in the studio? Life may have begun in tidal pools, but that's no reason to haul your lab equipment out there to stage an experiment for the camera.
Nothing new for me in this until the end. --
I have been wondering for a long time where we could deploy enough solar panels to power civilization. In space is an obvious answer, but then there would be difficult challenges of physical structure, of keeping them pointed at the sun all the time, of servicing, etc. Well, now that I've heard the idea, I can't believe it never occurred to me. On the moon, of course. Physical structure is already there, and it's really big. It's in a stable orbit. Raw materials are available locally. What are we waiting for?
