Has anyone here been following the news about Bitcoins? And if so, what are your thoughts?

Joan - For one, it's very controversial. If someone invested about $5. a year ago, on December 4th, each Bitcoin was worth over $1200.
Many were warning that the bubble would burst. And then it did, down to a low of $455... The panic selling resulted from China refusing to accept it as their legal currency. It's back to over $700 today, so it appears that it may have been a good omen, a way to stablize the Bitcoin.
If you're interested, you might want to Google it. I, personally, find it fascinating, even though I have not invested in it.
NYTimes had some articles and comments about it today. I especially find the comments so interesting...they go from comparing it to just another Tulip Mania of some centuries ago, to the wave of the future.

Deb - There are some glitches in the Bitcoin as it is now. They've just got to be worked out.
I just don't know about the future for Bitcoin. As for all those comments, one can easily figure out who invested in Bitcoin and who didn't.
It could be more attractive, if the individual countries weren't so afraid of it...especially China.
