I've always liked Matt Damon, on & off screen.

I really feel chagrined posting here right now, knowing I told Bob that I hate this politics forum. But I just have to say having to live with myself, that the extreme left is just as bad as the extreme right. And how paradoxical is it that the person who makes millions to make movies is adovcating weath reallocatiion? Maybe there's something I'm just not aware of here.

Actually, there's something that Matt Damon is not aware of here. He worked hard and became very successful. In other words, he lived the American Dream. And he is turning against it. Notice though that he isn't giving up any of his money. Bob Marks

I don't agree with you, Bob, that Matt Damon worked anymore harder than any other person making a daily living. What the difference is that sports and entertainment earn lots more because that is what people in the our western world, anyway, wlll pay more money for and are more worth it to them than families workiing to raise children and clothe and feed them and provide a roof over their heads. What I was really saying in the post that you agreed me on, is that our values are way screwed. I do believe that Damon was trying to say that, but he failed big time. Or maybe that short video was cut short before that's what he was trying to say.
P.S. And I also don't believe that communism is the answer, which Damon is suggesting IS the answer Bullshit! We don't need a revolution. We just need for the far right to come to their senses. And I don't believe for one minute that Obama is a far left socialist advocate. Only far right idiots think so. Only those who hate the poor think so. That's true. That's very true.

"Notice though that he isn't giving up any of his money." And you know this - how? Bob must have read it in Matt's chart.

I don't agree with you, Bob, that Matt Damon worked anymore harder than any other person making a daily living. I didn't say he worked harder than anyone else. I said he worked hard. I'm not sure what you are saying here. People voluntarily pay money to be entertained. That's why actors and sports figures make so much. Are you saying that people shouldn't do that? Okay. I agree with you here 100%. Could you please be a little more specific here. But he does believe that the government should take more care of people like the countries in Western Europe. In fact the government even issued a video showing how government programs help people from birth to retirement Remember "The Emperor's New Clothes" that could only be seen by spiritual people? Bob, that website give his earnings. We know he earns a lot. You said "he isn't giving up any of his money". How do you know how much he does or doesn't give away?

So he bought a couple of nice properties. And that means he doesn't give up any of his money? He has a family, so of course he would buy property. But that only accounts for a small percentage of his earnings. You don't know what he does with the rest, now do you? For all you know he gives millions to charities and other worthy causes - right?
In any event I don't see what his personal wealth - or what he does with it - has to do with the comments he made in this video. He's basically saying that the system is all wrong and that people need to wake up and smell the coffee. Are you suggesting that because he's rich he isn't entitled to criticize the system or advocate civil disobedience? Are only poor people . the people with the least amount of power and influence - entitled to protest?

Yes, he does have the right to protest. But if he is to be consistent and not a hypocrite, he would live in a simple home and give the extra cash to charities that help the poor. Bob
