Hawaii is close to becoming the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage. The senate passed the bill today, and tomorrow it goes to the house. Wish us luck on the marriage equality side. As always the churches are against it. However, not all churches. The Episcopalians, many of the United Church of Christ, and Buddhists are for it. Catholitics (but not all) and Mormons are against.

Great news Lily. Here's hoping that the other 35 states will also legalize same sex marriage and end this discrimination once and for all. Bob

Okay, so now the state House has met in committee and has been hearing from constituents. The vast majority is from Christian organizatons who have sent their members to witness against equal marriage. If I really thought that it was all Catholics and Christian demoninations that were there so speak against the Marriage Equality Bill I would quit calling myself a Christian. It would be not just embarrassing but I would consider myself a candidate for Hell! But thankfully there are Christian Churches who are all for Marriage Equality, so I will withhold embarrassment and continue to call myself a Christian. The speaking for and against will go on for a few more days at least. Churches are being allowed all kinds of exemptions from Homosexual Maririages having to be sanctioned in a Christian Church. As if gay couples would want to be married by bigots!!!
But really and in actuallity, that's not really it. They say they are just are going by their beliefs and there goes the separation of Church and State. Those Churches who are opposing a govenment bill should lose their tax exemption. In fact, I really believe that ALL chuches should lose their tax exemption. But to be fair, those who are making a profit from owning properties that don't have church useage already do pay taxes. I know that for sure. Lots of folks don't know that. I just want that those chruches that use their membership to push political agendas, SHOULD LOSE THEIR TAX EXEMPTIONS!!!
