When people marry -- they just don't acquire a spouse. They get a whole other family (most of whom, admittedly might not be exactly what one expects or even wants).
I was lucky because I gained two fabulous relatives when I married my husband. One of them was his cousin, Mike. Mike and I were almost the same age -- I was four days older than him and we'd celebrate our birthdays together until he moved to New York to join the NYPD.
He lived there for years, became a detective, ran into the twin towers during 9-11 to save who he could -- the latter cost him his health. He died of lung cancer and was shipped home for burial. I visit his grave around our birthdays every year.
Today I was watching Tucker Carlson and he ran a segment on the NYPD. He showed police officers being assaulted with buckets of water as they were simply walking the street trying to do their job. In another clip, the plastic bucket was thrown at a cop's head while water was showering on them from other sources.
These are guys who might have known Mike. They might be his friends. And if he had lived -- it could have been Mike. And so, I will defend these men as I would defend Mike.
All of this is the fault of the mayor of New York -- deBlasio. He will not allow the NYPD to take any steps when they are abused in this manner. In fact, his anti-police rhetoric encourages this disrespect toward these brave men and women.
This idiot deBlasio wants to be President. I wouldn't allow deBlasio to clean my toilet. How dare he subject the NYPD to such abuse? NOBODY deserves to be treated in that manner just for doing their job.
There is no good reason for deBlasio to make the statements about the police that he has made as evidenced in the article linked. So his statements were made in ignorance.
I hope and trust that the good people of New York will vote that clown out of office when the next opportunity arises.
Mike: Wherever you are -- I got your six.
