Not sure whether I've mentioned these people before or not. But since I've been mostly laid off, I've wasted many a pleasant hour on this stuff.
Basically, RiffTrax is what the Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) people did after that shut down. Instead of a full production, they made mocking sound tracks that were to be played over movies, either DVDs or streaming. You had to coordinate the two together to make it work. But later they got more money and were able to produce their own DVD versions of movies with their snarky comments laid over the movie soundtrack.
To properly enjoy RiffTrax you need two things: (1) a love of really bad SF and Kung Fu movies and (2) a love of mocking those movies as they play. (I try to do this at home, but my wife makes me shut up. Sigh.)
So you take a bad movie, like "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" and three funny guys make fun of it as it runs. Sometimes they have guests, like Weird Al. Sometimes they do live shows. Sometimes they run short educational films, like those from the 1950s and 1960s. Sometimes the women of MST3K do the talking.
Sure, you might ask, "Why does a bad movie like 'Sharknado 2: The Second One' need professional mocking when I can do that myself?" Because the professionals are better at it. And they know inside stuff about the industry that you might not know. Hey, I bet that most of you didn't even know that the movie "Hillbillys in a Haunted House (1967) even existed. Trust me.
Anyway, RiffTrax films are available on their web site (https://www.rifftrax.com/) and on Amazon Prime. Maybe some other places. (Some of the Prime RiffTrax things are free and some cost $1.99. And they change. What's free now may cost later and vice versa).
Caveat: This stuff can damage your brain. You need insulation. I recommend that you partake of your favorite intoxicant before you start watching a RiffTrax film. Who knows what might happen to your brain cells if they are exposed to to RiffTrax bad movies without proper insulation. Don't take the chance. Insulate, intoxicate, and then enjoy the snark. 8->
