It happened to this couple. Alexa recorded a conversation they were having about hardwood floors. Then it sent it to one of her husband's employees.

Could also happen with your mobile phone, smart TV, etc. It's not paranoia if they're really after you. Supposedly even FB's Mark Zuckerberg puts a piece of tape over the camera in his laptop. 8->

There is tape over the cameras on every device I have. Except my actual cameras. Microphones too, except on the phone.

You leave a trail all day. Every time you use a credit card, debit cards, write a check, drive a car where there are cameras, use a mobile phone, badge into a workplace, etc. But so do millions of other people, and, unless someone wants to look closer at you in particular, you have herd immunity. Just like a flock of birds scattering when a predator shows up, there are just too many of us to keep track of. Yeah, 500 million people used a credit card an hour ago. So what? 8->
