I depend heavily on genetics. My relatives all followed the Redneck Diet and Lifestyle, yet lived into their 90s. I'm hoping that my more-healthy lifestyle will get me at least that much. 8->
The Redneck Diet and Lifestyle is as follows: 1. First thing in the morning, fry bacon for breakfast. Then fry eggs in the bacon grease. Make biscuits from scratch using processed flour and shortening (“shortening” is any fat that remains solid at room temperature. Healthy fats are those that are liquid at room temperature.) When served, individual eaters cover their eggs in salt and black pepper and put butter in their biscuits.
2. Lunch might be potatoes fried in bacon grease, baloney sandwiches with yellow mustard on white bread, etc. Just so it's mostly fat and salt.
3. Supper repeats the system. There might be fried chicken, boiled beans, even cornbread. But use lots of salt and butter wherever you can.
The important thing is to avoid fresh fruits and vegetable as much as possible – anything with vitamins or useful nutrients. Processed foods and foods heavy with fat, salt and sugar are the best choices. If you do eat fresh fruit or vegetables, put lots of salt on them. For example, when eating apples, slice the apple up with your pocketknife and sprinkle salt on each slice before you eat it. Also add salt to watermelon, pears, tomatoes, or any other fresh plant food.
As part of the Redneck lifestyle, you should move as little as possible. Most Rednecks have to do physical labor as their paying job, so when not at work, it’s best to sit in a chair and not move at all on weekends or holidays. Even when out of work, you should avoid exercise. It’s also important to use tobacco, whether as cigarettes, chewing tobacco, or snuff. Drinking alcohol is also recommended, but may not be an option for Southern Baptists or others. At least not while there are family or visitors present. Poor dental hygiene is also a must. When a tooth goes bad, you can pull it yourself with a pair of pliers. This will mean eating softer foods as you age, but eggs fried in bacon grease and such can be easily gummed, even if you have no teeth at all.
