She was skeptical, but Mariana went with a friend to a multi-denominational religious convention.
A Christian healer laid his hands on her and exclaimed, “In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, you will walk today!”
“But I’m not paralyzed,” Mariana said politely, turning away.
Then a rabbi laid his hands on her head and said, “By the will of Yahweh you will walk today!”
Again Mariana said, “I’m not paralyzed,” this time more irritatedly.
A Buddhist monk then came up to her and took her hands in his, saying, “Buddha wills that you will walk today!”
“My legs are perfectly fine!” Mariana shouted. “What’s wrong with you people?!?”
She strode out the convention in disgust, only to find that her car had been stolen.
