Local news article. Austin is not like the rest of Texas. For that matter, it's not like the rest of the US, either. LOL Travis County (Austin) voted not to join the Confederacy back in the Civil War. Austin has the only legal nude beach in Texas. Women are legally allowed to go topless, if they so choose (if men can, then so can women, right?). Etc. For anyone interested in Austin's Jack the Ripper type murders in the late 19th century, a local writer named Steven Saylor wrote a novel about them, "A Twist in the End", with O. Henry as the protagonist. (O. Henry lived in Austin at the time, but later skipped town due to an embezzlement charge, for which he served 5 years in prison years later.) Anyway, for anyone interested, here's some stuff about Austin. www.kvue.com/news/local/40-weird-facts-you-probably-didnt-know-about-austin/502675738
