That was the time period when I watched a lot of TV Series, and I always watched The Partridge Family. I know people are going to say he did it to himself, but it's still sad.

I just found out. Yes, it is very sad. At least his pain is over. May he rest in peace.

I always liked David Cassidy -- until I found out that he really wasn't like "Keith Partridge" at all. The more I read about the guy (and the more I realized he was....a porker toward women) the less I liked him. Consequently, I wasn't surprised Susan Dey refused to speak to him (or go to "Partridge Family" reunions).
But for that brief period of time when I did think he was a clean-cut boy next door type -- I really did like him. So I am sorry that he's dead. That's a man who will need a lot of prayers...

All you know is what people wrote about him, and you don't know their motives. Here's one. Can you positively say that your information is just as true. And, gee, what did you expect from a young guy who had all this fame.

Actually, I know what he said about himself. He was, quite frankly, an egotistical jackass who used women and was proud of it. He had a pet nickname for his junk -- which he felt bespoke its massive "size".
He "kiss and told" (a nice way of putting it) on ONE experience between him and Susan Dey. What he said about her embarrassed her so much, she refused to speak to him ever again. And to put a cherry on top -- the man COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY she wanted nothing further to do with him in later years.
Oh-- I got this from HIS OWN INTERVIEWS. He wasn't embarrassed about being a "porker". He was proud of it.
Now about Susan Dey being told to "stay away" from the bad boy. She was what -- maybe seventeen, at the time? I have yet to meet a seventeen year old who understands that boys aren't "romantic" in the same sense girls are at that age. So yes, you can tell them about "bad boys", but they don't really "get it". Especially back in those days -- after all -- Walt Disney promised us that someday our prince would come.
He did all right....but it was a different kind of coming... :eyeroll:
I refuse to make this guy into a saint just because he died. He was a porker. I'm sorry he's dead -- but that doesn't make him into an automatic saint. He was a porker with a capital "P".
Don't take this personally, Lily -- I thought he was adorable until I read the things he said -- then it was "yuck" city.

It must be nice to be a perfect person.

I sure as hell wouldn't have my sexual experiences printed up in National magazines. Such things involve another person. Out of respect -- people should keep their traps shut.
Do you or I or anyone else really need to know what David Cassidy did in bed with this or that person? Seriously -- Cassidy got into details. And the fact that he didn't care how any woman felt about his bragging speaks volumes about his piggishness.
This kind of behavior can't be excused or defended. It's disgusting.
My sins (between me and God) are certainly not going to be broadcast publically and I'm not proud of whatever sins I have committed.
This idiot was PROUD he used women.
Now I suppose you could say these women were "groupies" or whatever -- and I imagine a lot (or probably most of them were). But that doesn't make it right.
Just because you CAN act like a pig, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Your problem with David Cassidy is your problem, not mine. And I'm now going back to listen to Lionel Richie.

This kind of behavior can't be excused or defended. It's disgusting. And yet you often seem to know all the gossip about people. If you find it disgusting, why do you follow such things?

On the other hand, if we didn't have members like Debutante to throw grenades into our posts, it would be pretty boring here, wouldn't it? So, Deb, it's more like I love you hate you kind of thing. But more I love you. Keep it up, even when I desperately disagree. You bring spice to FACTS!

I remember reading this stuff --- oh, it's got to be at least twenty to thirty years ago, if not longer. I told you -- I actually used to like him until I found out what he was really like.
It seems that David Cassidy had a real problem with his "Keith Partridge" image. All of his "fans" were crazy about him because they assumed he was like Keith in real life. But he saw himself as some kind of sex god. It apparently annoyed the hell out him that he wasn't viewed in the way he wanted to be seen-- as this great phallic wonder of the world. (Seriously, this guy had real delusions of grandeur.) This stuff appeared in magazines and stuff back in the days when he was popular and it was hard to miss reading about it.
Now until I read this -- I wasn't a particular fan of Susan Dey -- but you have to feel sorry for a gal who is publically humiliated by a jackass like that. So at that point, I moved over to her camp (so to speak) and haven't really thought highly of David Cassidy since.
