I thought this was the most engaging episode so far. We found out that Casey kidnapped Lake to make the mom look bad so that child services would award custody to the dad (her lover).
Lake was being kept by Casey's sister and her boyfriend. I gathered Casey's sister is a whack job and has discussed killing Lake with her boyfriend [who implied this to Casey]. The episode ends with a police raid and dead bodies of the boyfriend and a woman who looked like Casey in the brief camera sweep.
Also covered was a wrap up of the subplot of the dad owing the drug dealers big bucks and the mom paying them off mistakenly believing they had Lake.
I am not sure why they are introducing a new subplot with the sister's pregnancy and her unemployed husband. It seems superfluous to the story.
Overall, there was a huge improvement this week. They kept the number of characters to a minimum, so it was easier to keep track of everyone.
The big question was -- why did the mom's black lover buy a gun? I am sure that will become relevant as the series goes on...

Okay. here's my take on episode 4 before reading yours. Jane is sure that Pete has Lake and slips him a mickey to search through his things and consequently believes that Lake is being held by some bad people to whom he owes money--specifically $70,000 which Jane pays to get Lake back and then finds out they don't even have her. And Pete didn't dissuade her, which goes to show me, at least, that he really doesn't know who has her. And he doesn't seem to suspect Casey at all--at least not yet. And I'm getting confused because I'm not sure, but it seems to be Casey's sister and husband that has her, to whom Casey is supposed to bring money squirreled out of Jane's account. But surprise, surprise, that $70,000 payment left the account pretty much bereft which has some horrible consequences as a result. So my question is how does a heavily pregnant female get away with that brutality of two able-bodied people? I guess wait until next time. It doesn't seem it was by gun, but I'm not sure of that. I recall that the sister has a police record where she had cut up her boyfriend. Whoa. And, by the way, the low ratings for this 10-episode series have resulted in it being moved from Sunday nights to Saturday nights, taking an hiatus and restarting on Saturday, December 16 with Episode 5 and 6 airing back-to-back at 9 PM and 10 PM. That's ridiculous for those of us still following the show. In other words--a bummer! deadline.com/2017/10/ten-days-in-the-valley-canceled-moved-saturday-1202195563/P.S. Read the comments down below on the website. Lots of people do like the show.

And now it occurs to me with Casey and her sister's husband being dead, no one is going to know that the sister and husband had Lake. They aren't going to know unless there's some clue left in the house as to Lake having been present. And we viewers are not going to know if Lake is even alive. Is she somewhere in the house, too? Bummers that we aren't going to know anything more until December 16th!

Lily,
I believe this starts up again tonight. Are we still doing this? I've set the machine to record it.

Lily, I believe this starts up again tonight. Are we still doing this? I've set the machine to record it. -- Debutante Truthfully, I forgot all about it, and I've really actually lost any interest I had. However, if you're going to still watch the last five episodes and post comments on them, then so will I. However, I'm not going to watch them on the nights they're aired--too late for me. I will watch them online when each new one becomes available which will probably be the next day or so. And then I'll comment. You can comment first and just put "Spoiler" on the top of the post and then I won't read it until I'm done watching that particular episode. But...I really want you to post first and not wait for me.

Lily,
I know what you mean -- it wasn't doing that well in the first place. Then to split it up like that with weeks in between episodes would make anyone lose whatever interest they might have had. I will finish only because I've already invested time in the first few episodes. But I will have to read some reviews to remember what the nuances were. I barely remember parts of the plot.

Deb, I'll be watching it tomorrow. This is just an unfortunate time of year for them to restart the series. It's just a stressful time crunch time. Have you watched it yet? Is it getting better? Anyway, I'll have an opinion by the end of the day tomorrow. No, rush, I guess. We'll have all the way to Saturday (the day after or so for me) for the 7th episode.

Lily,
Truthfully, I taped it and probably won't get to it until after Christmas. I am so far behind getting ready for the holidays it isn't even funny. I'm expecting company and I'm nowhere near being ready. You're right -- this was not the time for them to restart this series. I'm just going to wait until I have time.

That sounds good to me, too. I'll follow your lead as to when you're ready.
