It's always fun to see other Christians point out the error of their brethren. 8-> Why not just take up bowling instead. Sneaky, Fred. Very sneaky.

Because I live in Texas, where fundamentalist Christians (The American Taliban) are up in my face almost daily. I much prefer them to squabble with each other than me. Plus, whenever they try to use the government to impose their beliefs on the rest of us, it's always better that another Christian be the one to tell them that they're wrong. They automatically ignore any "outsider" comments. 8->

... it's always better that another Christian be the one to tell them that they're wrong. They automatically ignore any "outsider" comments. Don't many of them consider anyone, including other Christians, who do not share their beliefs 100% to be "outsiders?" If you disagree with them at all, you are not a real Christians, regardless of what you believe.

Indeed. Most fundamentalists believe that Christians of other denominations are hell-bound, but at least bringing in other Christians prevents the Fundys from making the battles Christian v. Heathen. This is a good thing, for example, when debating evolution. The fight should not be presented as between Christians and "Science", but instead between Christians who believe that the Bible is 100% literally true (fundamentalists) and the majority of the world's Christians who do not believe such. Fundamentalists need to be presented as "outside the mainstream beliefs of Christianity" as often as possible, thus weakening their political power to enact laws and otherwise mess with non-believers.

The reason I said Fred was being sneaky, is because on the Main Forum I wrote that I was no longer going to participate in religion topics, and when a religion topic showed up on the Conversation Forum, it surprised me. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be allowed or anything like that, just that it sort of jumped out on me from the bushes. But certainly carry on. I will read those topics, but will keep my mouth shut (and fingers inactive). I will say that what is being said right now on this thread is something I do agree with. But then, if I only participate because I agree with it, is that being a hypocrite?
