So, I ordered a sling shot from Amazon.com. The sling shot was $9.99 and the shipping charge was $9.50 from a retailer but shipped by Amazon LLC. Outrageous! But I selected that because ordering from a retailer through Amazon could take rather longer and I really wanted that sling shot asap! And so what happens? It's taking ten days to get here!!! What the he**!! So, I was looking how to contact Amazon to complain, and an option was them to contact me by phone. And sure enough about two seconds later, my phone rang! And the customer service rep was on the line. I told her my problem and how I needed the sling shot because of my cat and the vicous disgusting birds. Anyway, she is reversing the shipping charge. I emphasized that it wasn't the cost that bothered me, but the expectation that the product would arrive sooner because of it. And ten days was even longer than the free shipping would normally take. Anyway, I'm really impressed.
But not happy about my cat, who finally came home in the daylight instead of just at night and when all was going right, he ran away slinking when those disgusting vermin started screeching from a far distance--which they regularly do. The sling shot is for when they decide to lay eggs in the coconut tree nearby or the palms in my yard as they have done before. The thing is there has been babies in my plalm trees before but there has never been as vicious mynas as these last ones were. If they ever try to attack me or my cat again, it will be the last thing they ever do"!!! If I have anything to do about that!!! And I will!!!

And so after all this, I take a shower and wash my hair. i get out, and get dressed before taking care of my hair. And then the doorbell rings. I go there with my wet hair. I open the window by the door and there stands a guy with binders in his hand. I say at once--"I don't want to buy anything". And then he lifts up the binders and I say "I don't want to read anything!" And then he says how about donating? And I raise the volume of my my voice and say "I don't want to donate anything!" And then I really raise my voice and say" I am in a bad mood!" He finally gets the message and leaves.

Thanks, Deb,
These birds don't really raid gardens. They're mostly scavengers. You'll see them on roads picking on dead things or lizards and such. And I have hardly seen them on the ground, as on the grass eating grass seed like other birds. They stay high up screeching. Just for fun. Not to say that folks have not kept them at a young age becoming good pets. But in the wild, they're horrid.

Deb,
I think you will understand this. I pray everyday that Squeaky (the cat) will get brave and strong and come back to his old self. And this morning it happened. After feeding him this morning in the front yard at around 4:15 and then he disappeared, and then when I opeened the blinds in the backyard where his house and all his things are, he was there! I could hardly believe it. And then when I called him around noon, he actually came out from the next yard and I petted him and I fed him again, and he enjoyed himself in the grass while I continued to pet him and then the vultures started screeching from afar and he got scared and ran away.
I know that prayers do help alot, so i'm asking you to pray for Squeaky that he gets strong and brave. He's such a mild temperament of a cat. He doesn't fight or anything. Just let's those around him have their way. I would appreciate it.

Dear Lily: Sorry I missed the last post in this string. Of course, I'll say some prayers for your cat. How are things going with the slingshot? Did it work? I am still not too thrilled with this concept only because I'm afraid the birds will go after you if you shoot at them and miss. Too much Alfred Hitchcock on my part, I imagine. --Debutante Thanks, Deb. I appreciate it. Just need some prayers for him to gain courage and be brave. And getting angry instead of scared would be helpful, too. I just got the slingshopt yesterday. I don't have any intention of hitting a bird (as if I could aim that well) just scaring them off if needed. I haven't needed to use it yet. Only if it looks like they may be setting up house in the same tree again. I yell at them now when they land on a tree around my property. And they do fly off. I wish they would try to attack me. I'll send them flying!!!. I use a rake right now to make them think it's a large bird. Lol Soon I'll be known as the crazy lady down the street. I notice the neighbor whose dog was attacked by the birds put away the feeder house and doesn't scatter bread anymore. It's too bad those vicious mynahs had to ruin it for the sweet birds. Those vermin's only bird song is loud screeches. I can't figure out what they're screeching about. Just because of a nasty termperament is my theory. Lily P.S. I had to post as a guest because I tried three times to log in and it wouldn't take.
