I always considered myself a "qualified" feminist -- meaning I believe in equal opportunities and equal pay for equal work. But I always drew the line at what I considered unladylike behavior. I never for one moment believed women should act like pseudo-men. The women's movement was a good thing at its inception -- although I always thought it went too far in many areas. Now it seems -- young women are becoming anti-feminist. I am not sure how I feel about this -- as a "qualified" feminist -- I don't know that the message these young people are putting out is a good thing. The world tends to go to extremes -- either/or. Very seldom do situations reach a happy medium. Where would something like this lead over time? In any event -- look at this link. www.ijreview.com/2014/07/156463-15-women-share-reasons-dont-need-empowered-feminist-movement/I'm not sure what to make of this -- do they advocate throwing the baby out with the bath water? I can't imagine they really want to go back to the days of no career options and less even less pay (I don't believe women have reached equality on the pay scale yet.) At the same time, I do see their point on some of the placards they're holding. Anyhow, is this the beginning of a trend? --Debutante

You could click on "Women Against Feminism" -- first line of the article -- and read some of the "About" links.

Dear Joan:
Somebody posted the article on a Facebook feed. I really don't know much about who these people are -- but I think they're not thinking things through.
That's not to say I agree with everything the gung-ho feminists believe. I'm in the "middle of the road".
