Again, who exactly are guests? I thought we were rid of those bottom feeding barrnacles. Unless I get a good explanation, I am through with this board.
Lily
Okay, I relent. But I still want to really know.

If you want to be a a guest, then post! Otherwise you're nothing but parasites! And I promise, if then, I'm out of here because I'm not your entertainment. So, fess up, or forget it!

For the last two weeks I've had to endure an anonmyous phone stalker, until finally chnanged my phone number. It was not fun. that is why I am now quitting this forum that allows anonymous "guests". I will now delete my membership. Bye.

Yeah! (*^&%(&^ Dammit! And I'm going to bludgeon my next door neighbor to death because an old woman in Borneo stubbed her toe. That is more rational and less stupidly superstitious than what you posted. If it really bothers you then email giftie and ask her to turn off guest posting...as I've suggested before.

It may be funny to you, but it got me very much on edge and questioning privacy concerns very much now. Maybe I'll just go back to writing letters and support the USPS. They're going broke as you may have heard.

Lily -
Have you ever been the victim of a scam? Either from the internet or elsewhere?
You sound like you've had some very bad experiences.

But I already posted about that. How would you like someone to keep calling your phone and never leaving a message? And--as I said, my phone number is on the internet because there's no privacy anymore and it's an unlisted number. I get calls for other family members I guess because of the same last name. That has to be from the internet. It may not happen to you, but then it could. It doesn't sound at all bad when it's not happening to you.

Dear Lily: I think some "guests" are people who might be interested in the things we talk about but paranoid about posting. I know I have been a "guest" on the above top secret forum for over fifteen years. I read it every day, but don't post because some of the topics are justthisclose to being...shall we say..."1776"? Although I find it interesting to read (mostly because some of the conspiracy theories are off the wall --I don't think I want to end up on a watch list.) I'm really more interested in the paranormal/predictions forums but who would know why I was there other than me? Anyway, we're not nearly as controversial but some people have a lower panic threshold. Also, on FACTS -- maybe the "guests" are those posters who "left" but occasionally check to see what's going on. I know Charles drops in from time to time. I once got a PM that made me think a poster who has been gone for a very long time had dropped by (it was unsigned and simply said something to the effect that I hadn't changed). And then too, I wonder if someone like Zak (who was really into the board before he left because of his realtor business) might occasionally drop in -- just a suspicion -- but I can't imagine anyone quitting as "cold turkey" as he did (especially since he was a prolific poster). --Debutante And more, Deb. This is really more of a conversational forum. There's no need to "hide". Not like the forums you mentioned. I just can't see getting "entertained" and not reciprocrating. I really do try to come up with topics, even though some of them don't appear to draw any interest. I can't see how any current or previous members of the original FACTS board would find this one if no one knew how to reach them. So I doubt they are guests. But I really wonder how these "guests" that are here found this place. The only FACTS BACKUP BOARD that you can find on Google is the old one--which is now a spam paradise. There's no need to register there. And it doesn't give the link to this one.

Lily, are you able to get the phone number of the no voice caller? My phone lists the number of each caller....unless they have blocked their number....which might be happening in your situation. Do you have a call back option available with your phone service? Just thinking out loud....I'm sure you've worked with your phone provider.
With communication the way it is these days, there isn't much privacy, that's for sure.....if you own anything, have bought anything...you are there for the world to see. Sorry you've had to deal with this. Do you have some sort of identity protection? These days seem like a wise investment.
Guests on forums aren't always out to gather info on others....they may not want to post so there is no need to join if all they want to do is read threads.

Oh, the number was visible, Pat. It was a cell phone number (local). I investigated online and found this same number was doing it to other people. Probably many others because most people won't report. I surely wasn't about to call it back. And if I report it to my phone company that would get me involved with a person I want no way to get involved with in the slightest way. No telling what kind of person would do that kind of thing.
What kind of identity protection do you have? I'm supposed to have it with Norton Symantec while online.

Actually, I meant something like a Life Lock type plan. I think that's what it's called. Prevents someone from becoming you....suppossedly. This should help prevent anyone from trying to or use your credit.
You know Lily, if this nut is calling others also, who knows how he/she got the numbers....could be just lucky dialing. Either way, it still is unsettling to have someone calling. If you google the number, you might be able to find the cell carrier. Not sure if that will help, but it will be more info should any action needed to be taken.
