North Carolina is a major hog producer and probably has as many hogs as people in the state. Which means that several million tons of urine and feces are just lying around. When rain falls on this waste, it runs downhill into special lagoons built to hold it. But when Florence drops 20-30 inches of rain in a couple of days, there's a good chance that the lagoons will overflow and contaminate local water supplies.
Most of the hog farms are in the eastern part of the state, where this and other hurricanes hit. As climate change increases the power of storms (due to the warming of the ocean), these hog farms are likely to be a serious problem for the foreseeable future.
Just one more disaster for the poor people of NC. 8-<

Believe me -- I wouldn't have thought this was possible until I Googled it.
I really was looking for a possible solution for the problem you mentioned. But this idea is just too bizarre to pass up.
I don't know what the guy is saying, but I wish I did -- does the pig do this on command?

If we could only get the dog and cat to use the toilet.

The current solution seems to be the waste lagoons. Which, of course, smell very, very bad and the downwind neighbors complain about all sorts of illnesses that may or may not be related. (Hint - if you want to buy some really cheap land to build a house on, look for a large hog farm and figure out where downwind is.LOL) I think that ever so often they load some of the waste onto trucks and haul it off to somewhere or other. Some of the fecal material is also used as fertilizer, although thanks to the misuse of antibiotics, it's heavily contaminated with E. coli and other dangerous bacteria.
When you pack chickens, cattle, hogs, etc. into a small space, you're going to have a waste problem. The damage from hurricanes breaking the waste free is just an additional bonus. 8-<
