I am not very good with electronics -- but I don't think what just happened was anything I did. But maybe someone can explain how this might have happened. It's weird.
I just got a text message from my husband. It began by mentioning me by my first name -- then said he wasn't sure I'd get the text because he doesn't use that feature and wasn't sure he was doing it right. (This is true, my husband does not text). The message went on to say that he wanted to know if I still wanted him to make celery soup tonight because he didn't know what time I'd be home tonight.
I read this and was perplexed. Had I forgotten I was supposed to be somewhere tonight? And I didn't recall him saying anything about making soup before he left the house today. So I texted back "Getting home late? From where? Am I supposed to be going somewhere?"
When I pressed send text -- the message I replied to disappeared off the screen completely. but my reply to the message showed on my screen.
Less than a minute later, my husband calls me on the phone and asks me what I'm talking abut. I told him I was replying to his text. He said he never sent one.
So has anyone ever heard of a text "wrong number"? But what would the odds be of someone texting a wrong number and calling me by my proper name? My name wasn't really common when I was a child, and really still isn't.
I've never had anything like this happen before and I've never heard of anyone saying they got a text "wrong number".
Weird.

I have gotten texts that seem to have been intended for someone else. Like getting a "wrong number" phone call, I suppose. But never one that addressed me by name, and never one that appeared to be from someone I knew.
The whole cell phone system is so complex that it's a wonder it works at all, so unless it happens again, I suggest you just forget about it.

I've read about a women who was sending a text to her daughter and another "text" came in the middle of what she was writing. There's something about how these things can get thrown off course someway. And the weird part was that the text said something like "why are you texting me"? And she hadn't yet even sent the text.
