My New Year's resolution was to lose weight. So far, I've dropped 21.4 lbs. by the good old-fashioned calorie counting method.
I should mention here that I gained back everything I'd lost during my last dieting effort a few years ago and then some. However, I don't think it was exactly my fault.
I am a stress eater. Put enough pressure on me and I'll head right for the refrigerator. What happened was this: when we were working on my mom's house (getting it ready to sell) -- my brother refused to help. Rather than pick up the phone and express his displeasure to my brother -- my husband chose to badger me on a daily basis because my brother wasn't living up to his responsibilities.
When I say badger -- I mean the topic was brought up repeatedly each day and I was made to feel that I somehow should "do something" about the situation. I couldn't. People have no control over another person's behavior, but for whatever reason, my husband refused to accept that. He truly believed I could somehow "make" my brother do his share of the work.
As the months wore on (while working on the house by ourselves) the pounds piled back on. And I do mean piled for a grand total of 77.4 lbs. gained in that period. Well, 21.4 is now gone and it's been a pleasure because calorie counting is so easy. Unfortunately, it's also very slow. Too slow, in fact, to have done much to help with my health problems.
Anyhow...I'm going to go back on Medifast beginning April 1st. That's the same diet I used last time with great success. I lose a bit faster on that -- but the thing is -- it's easy (in terms of preparation) but boring (food is adequate, but hardly a taste treat).
Anyhow...I'll make periodic reports on how I'm doing. I know you guys will cheer me on. Believe me when I tell you this diet has nothing to do with my "looks". I have some genuine health problems that can only be improved by losing a substantial amount of weight.
This next week I'll be clearing up all my calorie counting products(the light yogurts and all the skinny cow products that are a fun way to diet). Next Monday, I'll be ready to rock and roll.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.
