I end up reading a lot of stranger's Twitter threads. Mostly because they get posted on places I frequent.
This one is a doozy and not to be missed. Long story short -- a female activist who was thrown out of the Kavanaugh hearings (apparently televised) was informed by her husband that he had "enough" and the marriage was over. She claims she, "never saw it coming".
She posts this on Twitter and what follows, is a strange mix of female activist supporters telling her she's "well rid of him" (etc.) and presumably beleaguered males sick of feminism who hail the husband's "heroism" for bailing on this ten year marriage.
I am rather stunned any woman could be so wrapped up in political activism that she would be so unaware of her husband's emotional nuances. Still, it makes for interesting reading, if only to note that neither side seems to get that she must be regretful at this turn of events. Otherwise, I doubt she would have made the "I never saw it coming" statement.
Another thing to consider -- I am also stunned that people would divorce someone over politics. Over the dubious claims of Christine Blasey Ford? This woman risked her marriage for this?
And her husband left her in defense of Kavanaugh? Or at least in principle over her behavior at the hearing? It boggles the mind.
Perhaps people don't really understand the serious nature of marriage in the first place if they can't weather this kind of storm.
Here's the string. It's long but the replies are strangely enlightening in terms of how marriage is viewed by some people.
