Once again, it is the direction of the country's economy that counts. The Chinese economy grew tremendously in the 1980's and 1990's. It did so because the Chinese government kept making the economy freer. The fact that other economies are freer than China is irrelevant.

So? All that shows is that the Chinese government was simultaneously pursuing two different policies.
Are you claiming that their economic policies which raised millions of people out of poverty was bad?
Are you saying that the crimes committed in pursuing the "one child per family" was good?
You are comparing Apples to Oranges here.

I is.
The One Child per Family policy is no longer in effect (although the bad results of that past policy are now being felt).
And there are riots in Hong Kong.
The Chinese government is trying to backpedal by taking greater control of the economy, so we will have to wait and see how this works out.

The effects of that policy are still being felt. Watch the video.

China was moving in the correct direction during those times, so who cares?

China was moving in the correct direction during those times, so who cares? Economically China was moving in the right direction, but obviously China was not moving in the right direction when it came to women's rights. Bob

You miss the point. In China, Women were REQUIRED to get abortions whether they wanted to or not.
