The government is obviously incompetent. The processing of their papers should be done much faster.

Yes, clearly the problem is with their 'papers' not being 'processed' fast enough.
Some German efficiency would be needed to 'process' these people in the correct fashion.

The German way meant that people were arrested and sent to death camps or forced labor camps after they were processed.
The American way (once they get more processing centers set up) means that the process ends in people being admitted to the U.S. and getting a life.

Really, which of these people have been granted citizenship?

These people are seeking asylum, not citizenship. But if they want to apply for citizenship, it takes about 4 years.

That's for people who have migrated to the US legally, with permission from the government, is it not?
Aren't these people in "detention" camps because they're allegedly illegal immigrants?

Wrong. As far as I know, most of these people applied for asylum and are simply waiting for their cases to be heard.
However, those who attempted to avoid the border crossing points and sneak into the country illegally ARE illegal immigrants, not "allegedly."

Wrong.
I made two claims, which of the two is "wrong"? Can illegal immigrants still apply for the green card? Or is it wrong to claim that the people in ""detention"" camps are illegal immigrants? Where are all the illegal immigrants, then, if only legal immigrants are being detained in these camps? You say that they are illegal immigrants for certain, does that mean all these people have already been established as guilty of that particular crime? Wouldn't you typically need a trial to establish criminal guilt?

Where are all the illegal immigrants, then, if only legal immigrants are being detained in these camps? Both of your claims are wrong. Illegal immigrants can apply for a green card, but they won't get one because they have broken the law. The people in the temporary detention camps are people who have crossed the border legally and applied for sanctuary. Illegal immigrants get deported. Yes. To LEGALLY establish that someone is an illegal immigrant, you would need a trial. But you only need a trial to establish legal guilt and punishment. You don't need a trial to establish a fact. You only need evidence. For example it's a fact that Hitler and Stalin were both mass-murderers even though neither one ever had a trial. Bob
