I've seen various print articles on this subject as well.

What other articles have you read about this, Deb? What makes it look like some alien put it there when it could have been another human? And what makes it so different from any microchip produced on earth?

Why would you give any credence whatever to such nonsense?

One of the articles I read claimed the doctor who found it published this in a professional medical journal. Most docs are very careful with their reputations.
Unless the doc who claimed to have found this has some problems. There's no way to judge the guys mental health.
I think there probably are aliens.
Most likely they have visited earth. I knew a guy who claimed to be an abductee. He was brilliant with a Cambridge Ph.D.
That being said, I find it hard to believe aliens nabbed Bonaparte. On the other hand, some people would say why not?
Actually, I am with the late Steven Hawkings. If there are aliens -- they are most likely unfriendly and let's hope they don't find us!

Almost forgot - when I posted it ,I didn't particularly believe it. It was more a case of -- "what's next?"
That's why I wasn't sure which board to put it on. Technically, it would fall under skepticism, but I meant it more conversationally.

One of the articles I read claimed the doctor who found it published this in a professional medical journal. . . . I don't suppose the article mentioned where this was published. Which issue of which journal? I'll bet it wasn't The Lancet or JAMA or any other reputable medical publication. Despite the near infinite number of anecdotal claims, there exists (to my knowledge) absolutely no credible evidence that aliens have ever visited earth.

I did some quick research just now. As far as I can tell, this story originally came from a Weekly World News article, not from a medical journal or generic "scientists". Probably as early as 1997. It then was passed around internet conspiracy sites for many years and muted as it traveled, as each site copied quotes from other sites and added its own.
The basic skeptic methodology for all claims is that you first have to decide whether something actually happened before you try to figure out how and why. In this case, the odds are very good that it never happened. If a chip had been found, it would have been front-page news all over the world. Someone would have hacked it and we'd know what was on it. And someone would have checked the materials to see what it was made of. The fact that it was never the lead story on the evening news is pretty good evidence that it never happened.
But even if a microchip had been found in Nappy's skull, that does not mean aliens. An ordinary human could have put a chip there for some reason or another. Including a prank. And why would aliens, who obviously would have to have much more advanced technology than we do, still be using microchips? I would expect at least a quantum flash drive. We're already moving beyond microchips and we're nowhere near being able to travel to other solar systems. It's also pretty sloppy spy-craft to leave any equipment around for people to find. And, and this is the BIG one - Nappy's skull has been around for a long, long time. He was autopsied after his death in 1821. Why would no one ever see the microchip until 1997 or so?
All in all, not a single reliable source to back up the story and dozens of problems with it.
