I have had a request to delete one of Debutante's posts from yesterday for violating ProBoards policy in that it "promotes or glorifies racial intolerance, uses hate and/or racist terms, or signifies hate towards any person or group of people."
Message begins with "NICE TRY—BUT NO CIGAR!!!" posted at 7:59AM Tuesday 7 February 2017
I have reread this message several times, and decided to let it stand. I see it more as a tirade of irrational fear brought on by a severely exaggerated sense of the actual danger than as a glorification or promotion of intolerance or hate. It also strikes me as an example of "doubling down" in the face of cognitive dissonance when she has been confronted repeatedly with conflicting views expressed by others about the risks posed by immigration, terrorism, and so on. Also, in the present political climate, with President Trump hammering away on this subject for a couple of years now, I think Debutante's apparent state of mind serves as a example of the harm constant fear mongering by our own leaders can do to our citizens.
Opinions, please. Should this message remain or be deleted?
