I'll read these links and any others I can find tonight, and offer some comments if I have anything worth saying. For now, a quick reply from work --
Perhaps this will be a first step in getting finding a more rational approach to debates on environmental policy. But I hope that recognizing past excesses in one direction won't lead to future excesses in the opposite direction.

The apology, that is, the Lecture to Oxford Farming Conference, 3 January 2013, by Mark Lynas was quite interesting. To the limit of knowing what I'm talking about on this topic, I agree with him. Broadly speaking, nothing really new for me, although I did not know all of the specific examples he talked about. This paragraph near the end of the article reminded me of today's eSkeptic newsletter which I read this morning. www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/13-06-12/Scroll down to "How To Be A Skeptical News Consumer," an article reprinted from their magazine.

There's plenty of good stuff in that article Ray. But did you notice that though the author says that both Republicans an Democrats have lied, she only gives specific examples of lies from Republicans and conservatives. That is a subtle method of criticizing one side while appearing to be impartial. Bob

You seem to have read more closely than I did, Bob, being as I was only almost awake at 6:50 AM just before starting work. Earning a living sure does interfere with having a life.

My boss is a slave driver. He has me working on weekends. Unfortunately I can't quit because I'm self-employed. Bob

I think you need to give yourself a raise. If he gives himself a raise lily, that means he raises prices for his clients. That is a dilemma.
